Beautiful, ugly, pure, dirty, strong, weak, hardened, wounded, saved, sick, pale, tanned, bent, upright, colonized, crushed, preserved, decayed – the body is the ground on whichour own forces and those of others have been forever acting out and against each other. No body has ever been spared the traces of its life and passions, the inscriptions of powerand the bondage of normativity. And while we flirt with A.I. and metaverse, it is still thebody paying the price in the end, first and last proof, that we are indeed alive andineluctably finite.
My ongoing interest for the idea and representation of the body sparked the curiosity toexplore how artists of ‚Die Ecke‘ association see, interpret, construct and deconstruct thebody in a group show that highlights 10 very different positions in media, experience leveland demographics, in the humble attempt to build a new body – by no means exhaustive– and yet powerful.
The exhibition runs till February 25 (Tu.-Sa. 12.00 – 18:00) featuring works by: Dorothea Dudek, Ingrid Olga Fischer, Lisa Frühbeis, Gernot Hausner, Manfred Heller, Laura Lacrampe, Sebastian Lübeck, Luca Nenning, Johanna Schreiner, Stefan Wanzl-Lawrence
